How to

Classic vs conversational forms

Understand the two ways to present a form — all fields on one page, or one question at a time — and choose the right one for your audience.

The same set of questions can feel very different depending on how it’s presented. There are two modes, and the right choice depends on who’s filling it in.

Classic: everything on one page

A classic form shows all the fields at once. People can scan the whole thing, jump around, and fill it in at their own pace. This works well for short forms, applications people expect, and anything they may want to review before submitting.

Conversational: one question at a time

A conversational form asks one question at a time, like a chat. It feels lighter and more guided, which can lift completion rates on longer forms or when you’re asking something out of the blue.

How to choose

You build the form once and choose how it’s presented, so switching modes doesn’t mean rebuilding anything.
